Words of Correction, Leading to Repentance

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Heb. 4:12-13 niv

I hope you agree that America could only get to this place of desperate need because we, God's people, have not been the Mt. 5:13-16 salt and light we are expected to be. It is vital that we take responsibility for that and accept the consequences with humble willingness to obey and serve God now.
Obviously, it would seem, repentenance ought to be at the top of our list but we're not quite ready for that. We are worried but we don't have enough pain yet. We somehow still think we can get the "then" of II Chron. 7:14 without the "if."
We're still in the v15 phase of Isaiah 30:15-18 but fortunately v18 is patiently waiting for us, and the "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you" of James 4:8 is still true. God knows what is going to happen and He is ready to help when we turn to Him.
In John 14:15-31 Jesus says that if we love Him we will obey Him, and then He promises a very special "Presence" which we will find helpful in times to come. Many other scriptures corrolate loving Him with obeying Him, as in I John 2:3-6, 15-17, and I John 5:1-3. We have a lot of work to do there!

Christians who are truly concerned about the future of America, and/or the future of the Church in a nation that has turned our back on God, will do well to consider the need to search our hearts and to turn back toward Him. His Word will help us do that, and as we search the scriptures for instruction and correction that can lead to repentance, we'll find these and more:
Gen. 20:3-5 - You shall have no other gods before me.
Deut. 30:11-19 - I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, - -
II Chron.7:14 – The conditional “if” of God healing our land.
Psalm 139:23-24 - Search me oh God and know my heart - -
Prov. 9:10 - The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and - -
Ecc. 12:13-14 - here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments,
Jer. 29:13 - You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Mt. 5:13-16 - Salt and light, and the consequences of not being salty.
Mt. 25 - Parable of ten virgins; of bags of gold; the sheep and goats
John 3:15-21 - God's love; light and darkness; our choice.
John 3:36 - Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son - -
II Cor. 6:14 - 7:1 - I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.  Therefore, - -
James 4:4 – Being a friend of the world makes us an enemy of God
James 5:1-6 - Words to the rich
I John 2:15-17 – Don’t love the world or the things of the world, - -
Rev. 2:4-7 - Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.
Rev. 22:20 - He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
