Take me back to the Harbingers Main Page
I hope you agree that America could only get to this place of desperate need because we, God's people, have not been the Mt. 5:13-16 salt and light we are expected to be. It is vital that we take responsibility for that and accept the consequences with humble willingness to obey and serve God now.
Obviously, it would seem, repentenance ought to be at the top of our list but we're not quite ready for that. We are worried but we don't have enough pain yet. We somehow still think we can get the "then" of II Chron. 7:14 without the "if."
We're still in the v15 phase of Isaiah 30:15-18 but fortunately v18 is patiently waiting for us, and the "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you" of James 4:8 is still true. God knows what is going to happen and He is ready to help when we turn to Him.
In John 14:15-31 Jesus says that if we love Him we will obey Him, and then He promises a very special "Presence" which we will find helpful in times to come. Many other scriptures corrolate loving Him with obeying Him, as in I John 2:3-6, 15-17, and I John 5:1-3. We have a lot of work to do there!

 * Here’s a bottom-line thought. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by viewing American and world events as a wake-up call. If Christian-Americans were to take this to heart the resultant repentance and new Life would make us more like the people God always intended us to be. This would extend the time of God’s grace upon America; and/or empower us to stand firm and to serve Him effectively through difficulties. If such difficulties are only imagined by some (like me), we would have become a more authentic and vibrant Church and would have enjoyed God in an incredibly richer way. Regardless, we win. And regardless, it would be another proof that all things, even evil, ultimately serve the Lord our God! - Isaiah 46:9-10 - II Peter 3:8-9
